$15.82 per hour Position Summary Byron Public Schools is seeking reliable, organized, and professional individuals to serve as Substitute Secretaries. Substitute Secretaries provide temporary clerical and administrative support in school offices and district departments when regular staff members are absent. Essential Responsibilities Greet students, staff, parents, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner Answer and direct phone calls; take messages as needed Perform general clerical duties including filing, copying, scanning, and data entry Maintain confidentiality of student and personnel information Assist with attendance records and student documentation Support building administrators and office staff with daily tasks Manage incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries Operate standard office equipment Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Previous office or clerical experience preferred Strong organizational and communication skills Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, email systems) Ability to work independently and adapt to different school environments Professional demeanor and customer service skills Ability to maintain confidentiality Working Conditions Fast-paced school office environment Frequent interaction with students, staff, and the public May require sitting, standing, and light lifting Additional Requirements Background check and clearances as required by state law Ability to accept assignments on short notice Interested candidates should submit a completed application and resume.
