Materials Processor

Job Description

Non-Exempt/Bargaining Unit Posting Number of openings

•1 Shift

•9:00am-5:30pm M-F; shift bidding process based on seniority

Site/Location:

Detroit, MI Status

•Regular Full Time Picks up and delivers materials from user areas for delivery throughout corporation as well as process requisitions and orders. Prepares/distributes incoming and outgoing mail. Responsible for analyzing and redirecting undesignated forms and correspondence to the proper area. Fulfill and deliver requisitions, work orders or requests for materials, other stock items and distribute items. Pick up and deliver return material and other items. Codes and delivers packages from outside sources. Completes daily production sheets on duties performed. Sorts and prepares incoming/outgoing mail and delivers incoming mail. Process registered, certified insured, zip code sorted and UPS. Bursts, cuts and opens material when required. Palletize and prep materials for pickup by drivers or vendors. Assists in loading and unloading of all deliveries. Operates all electronic and manual warehousing equipment. Process outgoing mail via metering equipment as well as process UPS (United Parcel Service). Date-stamps, reviews, analyzes and evaluates undesignated and misdirected forms and. Correspondence and routes to the proper area for processing. Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school graduate or equivalent. Six (6) months previous experience in Mail Services or Shipping/Receiving environment. Six (6) months experience with electronic mailing/metering equipment. Minor mechanical mobility necessary. Must be familiar with wrapping/binding equipment. Ability to operate a calculator, letter opening machines and metering equipment, all UPS Applications Basic knowledge of PC skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with employees and clients. Must have knowledge of corporate mail code system, U.S. Postal Regulations, claim forms and specialized department forms. Must have knowledge of, corporate organizational structure, ordering stock, department policies and procedures. Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job. Basic knowledge of warehousing activities necessary to perform related duties in a safe expeditious manner. Must be able to handle mobile power equipment. Must be able to lift up to seventy (70) pounds. Required to work in cold climate during winter months. Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.
