Job Summary We are seeking a reliable, trustworthy, and highly personal Visitor Services & Front Desk Coordinator to manage our front-of-house operations in Cocoa Beach. As the primary face of the museum, you will be responsible for creating an welcoming environment for all guests while managing daily ticket sales and facility security entirely independently.
This position offers excellent scheduling flexibility. We are open to configuring hours to fit your circumstances, ranging from part-time (16-24 hours/week over 2-3 days) to full-time (32-40 hours/week over 4-5 days). Because this role operates as a sole-operator position during shifts, a high level of personal accountability, honesty, and independence is required.
Core Responsibilities Visitor Relations:
Greet all museum guests with excellent interpersonal skills. Communicate information clearly regarding exhibits, safety protocols, and local Cocoa Beach tourism highlights.
Solo Operations & Security:
Execute all opening and closing procedures entirely unsupervised. This includes unlocking/locking the facility, securing perimeters, and managing building security protocols.
Financial Transactions:
Confidently operate the point-of-sale (POS) ticketing system. Handle all cash and credit card ticket sales, balance the register drawer daily, and execute secure cash drops.
Facility Care:
Maintain the visual standards of the museum by performing light cleaning, dusting, organizing brochure racks, and keeping the lobby and desk areas pristine.
Position Requirements Age Requirement:
Must be 18 years of age or older (required due to solo keyholder, security, and facility liabilities).
Transportation:
Must possess reliable transportation to guarantee punctual arrival for early morning opening shifts.
Professional Presentation:
Must maintain a clean, well-groomed, and highly professional appearance in accordance with museum visitor standards.
Background Check:
Must be willing to undergo a standard criminal background check and reference screening (mandatory due to independent cash handling and solo building access).
Skills:
Strong communication skills, basic computer literacy for POS operation, and proven cash-handling precision. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in retail front desks, hotel guest relations, tourism hospitality, or reception roles. A general interest in history, art, or museum environments. Ability to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision.
Pay:
$17.50 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 16.0 - 40.0 per week
