In this energetic and fast-paced role, you will operate heavy paving equipment to ensure smooth, durable asphalt surfaces that meet strict safety and quality standards. Your expertise in construction machinery maintenance, asphalt paving, and working on civil infrastructure projects will help us build roads, parking lots, and other essential infrastructure. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale projects while honing your skills in heavy equipment operation and construction site management. Duties Operate finishing asphalt rollers to compact and smooth freshly laid asphalt surfaces, ensuring optimal density and surface quality. Perform routine inspections and maintenance on paving equipment, including rollers, screeds, and concrete mixers, to guarantee safe and efficient operation. Assist with the preparation of construction sites by setting up paving equipment, ensuring proper alignment with project specifications. Follow all safety regulations and protocols, including DOT (Department of Transportation) standards, to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and team members. Support the application of bituminous materials and concrete as needed, coordinating with other crew members for seamless paving operations. Use basic math skills to measure materials, verify dimensions, and ensure accurate placement of rebar or other structural components. Collaborate with project managers and other tradespeople such as loaders operators and concrete pump operators to execute paving tasks efficiently. Qualifications Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment, especially paving equipment such as rollers, screeds, or loaders. Knowledge of asphalt paving processes, concrete work, rebar installation, and concrete pumping is highly desirable. Mechanical knowledge for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting is essential for keeping machinery in top condition. Familiarity with safety regulations including DOT (Department of Transportation) standards and safety protocol adherence on construction sites. Ability to work effectively on civil infrastructure projects involving asphalt paving, concrete work, or site preparation. Valid commercial vehicle license or experience driving commercial trucks is preferred but not mandatory. Strong understanding of construction site procedures combined with basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
