About Us:
Merrick, LLC is a central Louisiana based contractor specializing in heavy highway and civil infrastructure work. We partner with various government entities including LADOTD, USACE, statewide municipalities, and various private clients. We deliver projects that are safe, completed timely, of high quality, and within the owner's budget. Our foundation of work includes utility corridor projects, runways and taxiways, boat launches, box culverts, highways & bridges, levees, flood walls, and pumping stations.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Lead Carpenter to oversee and coordinate carpentry work on various heavy highway construction projects. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, leadership abilities, and a solid understanding of construction processes. The Lead Carpenter will ensure that all carpentry work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise a team of carpenters and laborers in the execution of carpentry tasks related to heavy highway construction projects. Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements and materials needed. Plan and coordinate carpentry work, ensuring all tasks are completed on schedule and within budget. Perform high-quality carpentry work, including framing, formwork, installation of structures, and finishing work. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, promoting a culture of safety on the job site. Train and mentor junior carpenters and laborers, providing guidance on techniques, safety practices, and quality standards. Conduct regular inspections of work to ensure adherence to project specifications and quality standards. Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and other trades to ensure seamless collaboration and project success. Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and report on any maintenance needs.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in carpentry or construction management is a plus. Minimum of [insert years] years of experience in carpentry, with at least [insert years] years in a lead or supervisory role in a construction environment. Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, and tools. Familiarity with safety regulations and practices in construction. Work Environment:
  • Work will be performed outdoors on construction sites.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and heavy machinery.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn at all times.
