This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who can confidently walk into a residential service call, diagnose electrical issues, communicate professionally with the homeowner, recommend appropriate solutions, and complete high-quality electrical work with minimal supervision. Our work includes a strong mix of electrical panel upgrades and replacements, residential troubleshooting and repair, EV charger installations, dedicated circuits, lighting, ceiling fans, subpanels, electrical upgrades, and other residential service projects. We are especially interested in someone who combines strong technical ability with excellent customer communication skills. Residential service sales, estimating, or customer-facing sales experience is a strong plus. The ideal candidate can identify legitimate electrical needs, explain available options clearly, build trust with homeowners, and help turn service opportunities into completed work—without high-pressure sales tactics. Compensation $30.00-$45.00 per hour, depending on experience, skill level, and qualifications. Additional performance-based bonus and incentive opportunities are available. Benefits, bonus structure, incentive opportunities, and the overall compensation package will be discussed during the interview process. We are willing to pay toward the higher end of the range for a highly experienced electrician who can independently manage residential service calls, perform panel upgrades and troubleshooting, communicate effectively with homeowners, and demonstrate strong service or sales ability. Duties & Responsibilities Perform comprehensive residential electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting Identify electrical issues using appropriate testing equipment, including multimeters, voltmeters, and other diagnostic tools Perform electrical panel upgrades, replacements, repairs, and related service work Install EV chargers and dedicated electrical circuits Install, repair, replace, and upgrade wiring, outlets, switches, breakers, lighting, fans, subpanels, and related electrical components Troubleshoot electrical systems to determine the root cause of failures or intermittent problems Read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, plans, and manufacturer specifications as needed Perform electrical renovations and upgrades in existing residential properties Inspect existing electrical systems and identify safety concerns, deficiencies, or potential upgrade needs Clearly explain findings and recommended solutions to homeowners Present repair, replacement, and upgrade options professionally and confidently Prepare or assist with estimates and recommendations when appropriate Identify additional legitimate electrical needs while onsite Help customers understand the safety, functionality, and value of recommended electrical work Complete work safely, cleanly, efficiently, and professionally Follow applicable California Electrical Code, National Electrical Code requirements, local requirements, and established electrical safety procedures Maintain accurate job notes, photos, documentation, and communication with the office Use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and electrical equipment safely and effectively Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction throughout each service call Qualifications Strong hands-on residential electrical experience Proven experience independently troubleshooting residential electrical systems Experience with main service panel upgrades and replacements strongly preferred Experience installing EV chargers and dedicated circuits preferred Strong understanding of residential electrical wiring, installations, repairs, and upgrades Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes and safe electrical work practices Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, plans, schematics, and technical information Ability to diagnose electrical problems efficiently and recommend appropriate solutions Valid California electrician certification appropriate for the work being performed Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record consistent with the requirements of the position Ability to safely operate electrical testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools Ability to perform the physical duties associated with residential electrical service work Strong problem-solving and organizational skills Professional appearance and communication skills Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently without constant supervision Customer Service & Sales Experience Because this is a residential service position, technical skill is only part of what makes someone successful at Kinetic Electric. We strongly prefer candidates who have experience: Communicating directly with homeowners Explaining technical electrical issues in an easy-to-understand way Presenting repair, replacement, and upgrade options Preparing or discussing estimates Identifying additional electrical needs during a service visit Building trust and rapport with customers Closing or assisting with residential service opportunities Working in a customer-facing electrical, HVAC, plumbing, construction, or other home-service environment Previous residential service sales or estimating experience is a strong plus but is not required for an otherwise highly qualified electrician. We believe recommendations should always be based on a customer's actual needs.
