Position Type:
Full-Time Position Summary Korte Does It All, Inc. is seeking an experienced and motivated Excavation Lead to oversee and perform excavation, grading, site preparation, utility installation, and related earthmoving activities for residential, commercial, and municipal projects. The Excavation Lead is responsible for managing field crews, operating heavy equipment when necessary, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently, and maintaining high-quality standards that align with company expectations. This position requires strong leadership skills, technical excavation knowledge, and the ability to coordinate crews, subcontractors, and project managers to ensure successful project completion. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead and supervise excavation crews on job sites. Coordinate daily work activities and communicate project expectations to team members. Operate heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, skid steers, and related machinery as needed. Read and interpret site plans, blueprints, grades, and utility markings. Perform and oversee site preparation, grading, trenching, drainage installation, utility installation, and backfilling operations. Ensure proper excavation safety procedures are followed, including trench safety and utility protection practices. Schedule and coordinate equipment, materials, and manpower requirements. Conduct site inspections to ensure quality workmanship and project compliance. Communicate project progress, delays, and concerns to management. Train and mentor crew members on proper techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures. Monitor production goals and maintain project schedules. Complete daily reports, equipment inspections, and job documentation. Assist with snow removal and other company operations as needed. Qualifications Required Minimum of 3-5 years of excavation, site development, or utility construction experience. Ability to operate various types of heavy equipment safely and efficiently. Knowledge of excavation practices, grading, drainage systems, and underground utilities. Ability to read blueprints, site plans, and grade stakes. Strong understanding of OSHA safety requirements. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding work. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Experience with safely operating heavy machinery OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. Experience with GPS machine control systems. Utility installation and site development experience. Indiana excavation and construction experience. Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting. Ability to safely enter and exit heavy equipment. Ability to work extended hours when project schedules require. Work Environment This position primarily works on active construction sites throughout Northeast Indiana. Employees must adhere to all company and OSHA safety requirements and maintain a professional attitude when interacting with customers, subcontractors, inspectors, and fellow team members.
