Landscape Construction Operations Manager

Job Description

Position Overview The Operations Manager is the operational leader responsible for transforming sold work into profitable, high-quality completed projects. This role exists to create structure, predictability, accountability, and efficiency across all field operations. The Operations Manager ensures that Imperial Landscaping & Masonry operates as a coordinated production machine — where crews are aligned, schedules are controlled, costs are monitored, and standards are upheld without constant owner intervention. The Operations Manager bridges vision and execution. While sales drives revenue, this role protects margin, safeguards reputation, and builds the systems required to scale. Primary Responsibilities 1. Production Execution & Oversight Oversee all active landscape construction and masonry projects Ensure each project has a clear scope, timeline, labor plan, and material schedule Conduct regular job site inspections for quality and efficiency Monitor production pace and adjust resources as needed Anticipate obstacles and proactively solve operational challenges Maintain consistent production standards across crews 2. Crew Management & Leadership Development Supervise crew leaders and field teams Assign labor strategically to maximize efficiency Establish clear performance expectations Assist with hiring and onboarding field staff Train and mentor crew leaders to operate with ownership Address underperformance quickly and constructively Build a culture of accountability, professionalism, and efficiency 3. Scheduling & Production Management Build and manage the master production schedule Strategically allocate labor, equipment, and materials Coordinate closely with office staff and sales department for smooth project transitions Adjust schedules proactively based on weather, delays, or change orders 4. Budget & Profitability Management Track labor hours and material cost against estimated budgets Monitor material usage and waste Identify cost overruns early and implement corrective action Improve production systems to increase gross margin Provide regular reporting to ownership on job performance 5. Client Experience Support resolution of operational client concerns Maintain professional presence on job sites Ensure crews represent the company at a high standard Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers Ensure materials and equipment are delivered on schedule Maintain strong relationships with vendors and strategic partners 6. Safety & Compliance Enforce company safety policies and OSHA compliance Conduct regular job site inspections Ensure proper equipment maintenance and usage Maintain required licenses and regulatory compliance Role Expectations Represent Imperial Landscaping & Masonry with integrity Lead with ownership mentality Ensure team is wearing the appropriate company shirts and boots Maintain a consistent and professional presence in the field Protect company pricing standards and profitability Take ownership of individual performance and growth Contribute to overall company sales culture and accountability Respond to customer inquiries within established company timeframes Maintain accurate and organized customer records Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and accountability Protect confidential company and customer information Knowledge of landscape construction, landscape maintenance, masonry, irrigation, landscape lighting Key Competencies Proven experience in construction and landscaping Strong verbal and written communication Ability to understand project scope and pricing structure Organizational and multitasking skills Professional appearance and conduct Attention to detail Problem-solving ability Professional phone presence Basic proficiency with computer systems and office software
Pay:
$100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
