In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, managing budgets, and collaborating closely with project teams, clients, and subcontractors. Your expertise will help ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-profile construction initiatives while utilizing your strong estimation skills and construction industry knowledge. Duties Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately estimate material requirements and labor costs. Develop detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects using estimating software such as HeavyBid or equivalent tools. Analyze project plans to identify potential risks, cost-saving opportunities, and value engineering options. Prepare comprehensive bid proposals, including pricing strategies, scope of work, and contractual considerations. Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers through negotiation to secure competitive pricing and favorable contract terms. Manage project budgets by monitoring costs throughout the project lifecycle and implementing effective cost control measures. Utilize construction management software and Bluebeam for document review, markup coordination, and project tracking. Requirements Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline preferred 12-18 months of underground utility or heavy civil estimating experience preferred. Strong understanding of heavy civil construction methods, production rates, and cost controls. Excellent background in mathematics, including algebra and geometry, as well as drafting and plan reading. Prior experience with engineering drawings, technical plans, and contracts preferred. Knowledge of field concepts, practices, and procedures related to commercial construction preferred. Understanding of estimating techniques, cost control, and material pricing preferred. Experience with risk analysis and value engineering. Proven ability to manage multiple bids of varying size and complexity. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical communication and presentation skills. Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail and ability to recognize and correct discrepancies. Strong work ethic and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done. Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with Coins, B2W, AGTEK, On-Screen Takeoff, Primavera P6, Trimble Business Center, or similar estimating software preferred. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to get to and from work. Proven experience in managing projects as a construction estimator within the commercial construction industry. Strong proficiency with estimating software such as HeavyBid or Xactimate, along with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word). Excellent blueprint reading skills and the ability to interpret technical drawings accurately. Demonstrated expertise in cost management, material cost estimating, and pricing strategies for large-scale projects. Knowledge of construction contracts, project management principles, and construction site operations. Effective negotiation skills with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to achieve optimal project outcomes. Construction site experience is highly desirable to enhance understanding of field conditions impacting estimates.
