Our corporate support center and marketing operations are based in St. Louis, MO, with trading offices in St. Louis and Hong Kong. Position Overview This role is responsible for loading and offloading inbound and outbound materials as well as the inspection and grading of inbound and outbound materials, ensuring efficient traffic flow within the yard, and coordinating with other yard personnel to maintain operational productivity. Assist in the recycling process by operating a variety of equipment including, but not limited to forklift, skid loader, end loader, excavator with shear attachment and material handler. This role serves as a point of contact for incoming drivers and suppliers and is expected to represent the company with professionalism and a commitment to service excellence. Key Responsibilities Load, unload and sort ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Inspect inbound and outbound loads for compliance and accurate grading. Deliver courteous and professional experience to all drivers and suppliers. Collaborate with other operators and scale staff to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow. Conduct inspections for non-conforming items (e.g., mercury switches, ballasts, sealed containers, etc ). Troubleshoot operational issues to minimize downtime. Coordinate with rail crew to switch and weigh inbound and outbound rail cars. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards. Adhere to all safety and environmental protocols and consistently wear required PPE. Complete and maintain all required inspections, paperwork, documentation, etc. Perform other duties as assigned. Candidate Profile Ideal candidates will demonstrate a proactive approach to work, a strong commitment to safety, and a willingness to learn and grow. A high school diploma or GED and prior experience operating equipment including but not limited to - forklift, tractor, skid steer, front end loader or excavator is required. Strong communication skills, a positive, team-oriented attitude and average reading, writing and arithmetic skills are essential. A history of reliable attendance is a must. Why Join Alter?
