Senior Business Systems Analyst - Commodity Trading (Techno-Functional)

Inver Grove Heights, MN (Hybrid Preferred) | Remote considered for highly qualified candidates Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Systems Analyst to support business-critical commodity trading and hedging operations. This is a techno-functional role that serves as the bridge between Trading, Risk, Middle Office, Back Office, and IT teams. The ideal candidate will combine strong business analysis skills with hands-on application support, configuration, and troubleshooting of enterprise trading applications. This position supports the implementation, enhancement, and ongoing support of commodity trading systems and requires someone who understands trading operations, can translate business needs into scalable technology solutions, and is comfortable supporting production applications throughout the full project lifecycle. Responsibilities Lead business analysis activities for commodity trading and hedging initiatives from discovery through deployment, production stabilization, and ongoing support. Partner with Trading, Risk, Middle Office, Back Office, Operations, and IT stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, and solution documentation. Document current and future-state business processes, trade workflows, integrations, controls, and exception handling. Collaborate with technical teams on solution design, application configuration, integrations, and data flow across front, middle, and back-office trading applications. Perform functional application configuration, first-level support, troubleshooting, and production support for enterprise trading applications (non-development). Support implementation, stabilization, and ongoing enhancement of commodity clearing and trading platforms. Support data analysis and reporting requirements related to positions, exposures, P&L, settlements, confirmations, market data, and reconciliation. Coordinate System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including test planning, execution, defect management, and issue resolution. Analyze production issues, perform root cause investigations, coordinate with vendors and internal teams, and drive timely resolution of application incidents. Support deployment planning, release readiness, production stabilization, hypercare, and continuous improvement initiatives. Develop and maintain operational documentation, support procedures, knowledge articles, and troubleshooting guides. Serve as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders while mentoring junior analysts and promoting best practices across business analysis and solution delivery. Required Qualifications 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst supporting commodity trading, hedging, brokerage, clearing, or trading operations. Strong experience gathering business requirements, process mapping, functional design, stakeholder management, and business process improvement. Proven experience supporting enterprise trading applications throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, application configuration, testing, deployment, production support, and post-production stabilization. Experience providing production/application support, incident management, defect triage, root cause analysis, and issue resolution. Experience coordinating System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and deployment activities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex business and application issues. Excellent communication and facilitation skills with the ability to work effectively across business and technical teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience with

platforms. Experience supporting commodity trading, hedging, brokerage, clearing, Futures Commission Merchant (FCM), or financial trading environments. Experience supporting trade lifecycle processes including trade capture, positions, exposures, P&L, settlements, confirmations, market data, pricing, and reconciliation. Familiarity with integrations between trading systems, accounting platforms, reporting solutions, and downstream operational systems. Experience working in regulated or highly controlled environments with a strong focus on governance, auditability, operational controls, and risk management.
