Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to join our supply chain team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing procurement activities, sourcing quality vendors, and ensuring the seamless flow of materials and supplies essential for our operations. Your expertise in procurement systems, vendor relationships, and inventory management will drive efficiency and cost savings across our organization. The successful candidate balances cost, lead time, quality, and documentation requirements while keeping purchasing records current. Key Responsibilities Review production demand, inventory levels, and material requirements; place timely orders for wire, cable, connectors, terminals, heat shrink, packaging, and other assigned items. Request and compare supplier quotations, including price, lead time, minimum order quantities, freight, and applicable terms; recommend purchasing decisions within assigned authority. Issue purchase orders with correct part numbers, revisions, quantities, pricing, delivery dates, and applicable specifications; obtain and record supplier acknowledgments. Track open orders, confirm delivery schedules, expedite shortages, and communicate risks and recovery dates to planning, production, customer service, and management. Maintain supplier and item data in the purchasing or ERP system, including lead times, pricing, order history, and current status. Coordinate with engineering and quality when specifications, approved sources, substitutions, or revisions change; obtain required certifications and traceability documents when specified. Work with receiving, quality, and suppliers to resolve discrepancies, rejected material, returns, credits, and corrective actions. Support inventory accuracy and cost control by identifying excess or obsolete stock, reviewing usage trends, and improving order quantities. Reconcile purchasing discrepancies with accounting and support invoice resolution; monitor supplier delivery and quality performance. Qualifications Experience in purchasing, procurement, materials planning, or supply chain coordination; manufacturing experience is preferred. Ability to read part numbers, bills of materials, drawings, and revision information accurately. Familiarity with cable assembly components is a plus. Strong follow-up, organization, negotiation, and written and verbal communication skills. Comfort using Excel, email, and an ERP or purchasing system to manage orders and analyze data. Ability to prioritize competing production needs, investigate discrepancies, and collaborate across departments Work Setting This position coordinates regularly with office, warehouse, production, and supplier teams. Compensation The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $70,000 per year. The final offer will depend on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, and the candidate's skills, relevant experience, and applicable degrees or certifications.
