Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on Vice President of Operations to join a growing custom industrial machinery manufacturer. This individual will report directly to the President and oversee key areas of the business, including engineering, manufacturing, shipping, accounting, customer service, and human resources. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced leader who has built their career within custom industrial machinery and is ready to take on broader organizational leadership. What You'll Do Oversee daily operations across engineering, manufacturing, shipping, accounting, customer service, and HR Lead and support department managers while driving accountability, performance, and collaboration Monitor project budgets, timelines, production schedules, and resource allocation to ensure projects remain on time and within budget Coordinate engineering and manufacturing workflows to identify and resolve issues that could impact project delivery Lead regular meetings with department heads to review project status, priorities, budgets, and schedules Develop and implement processes, procedures, KPIs, and best practices to improve operational efficiency Monitor manufacturing progress and equipment quality throughout the build process Oversee project tracking and ensure accurate communication between engineering, manufacturing, and other departments Identify opportunities to improve company structure, processes, employee performance, and overall operational effectiveness Support hiring, training, performance management, and professional development Partner closely with the President on company initiatives and operational priorities Participate in customer Factory Acceptance Tests as needed Occasionally travel domestically and internationally for customer visits and industry events
What We're Looking For Required:
5+ years of experience working within a custom industrial machinery, custom equipment, or engineered-to-order machinery manufacturing environment 3+ years of experience in an engineering or operations leadership role Strong understanding of the complete custom machinery manufacturing process, including engineering, parts/materials, production, scheduling, budgets, timelines, quality, and delivery Proven experience leading teams and holding managers/employees accountable to performance expectations Strong understanding of factory operations and manufacturing processes Experience working within a small to mid-sized manufacturing organization Ability to work cross-functionally across engineering and manufacturing Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills Comfortable working in a hands-on leadership environment
Preferred:
Director-level or higher leadership experience Experience overseeing multiple departments or functional leaders Experience managing mechanical and/or electrical engineering teams Leadership exposure across manufacturing, shipping, customer service, HR, accounting, or similar business functions Experience with custom automation, capital equipment, packaging machinery, food processing equipment, or related industrial machinery About the Opportunity This is a highly visible leadership position with the opportunity to work directly alongside the President and have a significant impact on the company's operations and future growth. The ideal candidate enjoys being close to the business working with department leaders, engineering teams, and the manufacturing floor while also improving processes and helping the organization scale.
Important:
This position requires direct experience working within a custom industrial machinery / engineered-to-order equipment manufacturing environment. Candidates with general manufacturing experience but no custom machinery background may not be considered.
Pay:
$160,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
