Full Job Description Director of Operations and Program Management Location:

Las Cruces, NM Position Summary Kit Pack is seeking an experienced Director of Operations & Program Management to provide hands-on, on-site leadership for our Las Cruces, New Mexico operation. This role is being established to strengthen site leadership, improve cross-functional alignment, establish clear accountability and decision-making, and ensure consistent execution across the organization. The Director will serve as the senior operational leader on site, providing employees and Team Leads with a clear point of contact for operational questions, priorities, approvals, and escalations. This leader will have a broad view of the business and will work across Operations, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Sales, and other functions to ensure teams are working toward common goals and following consistent processes and expectations. The Director will also play a hands-on role in estimating and pricing, leading the review of customer RFQs and developing accurate, competitive quotations that reflect technical requirements, cost, risk, lead time, and margin objectives. The ideal candidate is a decisive, collaborative leader who is comfortable making decisions, holding people accountable, and establishing structure without creating unnecessary bureaucracy. This is not a "hands-off" leadership role. The successful candidate will spend significant time on the floor, understand how the business operates, build relationships with employees and leaders, and identify what is working, what is not working, and where changes are needed. Key Responsibilities Site Operations Leadership Serve as the primary on-site operational leader for the Las Cruces facility. Provide clear direction, priorities, and accountability across departments and teams. Establish consistent operating expectations and ensure Team Leads and managers are aligned in how work is managed. Maintain a strong understanding of the site's operations, customers, processes, capabilities, and challenges. Regularly engage with employees and leaders to understand issues firsthand and remove barriers to performance. Evaluate how departments and teams are operating collectively and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, communication, quality, and accountability. Ensure operational decisions are made consistently and in alignment with company objectives. Establish clear escalation and decision-making guidelines so employees and Team Leads understand what decisions they can make independently, what requires management approval, and what requires executive-level approval. Provide leadership and support when issues cannot be resolved at the Team Lead level. Program Management, Estimating & Customer Execution Provide leadership oversight for customer programs and ensure commitments are translated into clear operational priorities. Partner with Sales, Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain to ensure programs remain on schedule and within established requirements. Monitor program performance, resource requirements, risks, margins, and customer commitments. Ensure program and operational decisions are evaluated from both a customer and business perspective. Establish appropriate approval processes for bids, pricing, margins, scope changes, and other business decisions. Lead the estimating and quotation process for customer Requests for Quote (RFQs), ensuring timely, accurate, and competitive responses. Review and interpret RFQs, specifications, engineering drawings, Bills of Material (BOMs), and other technical documentation to determine scope, requirements, and cost drivers. Develop and/or validate cost estimates and customer quotations for aerospace and defense parts, components, assemblies, and kits. Evaluate material, labor, machining, special processing, tooling, freight, outside services, supplier quotations, historical pricing, and other applicable costs when developing estimates. Partner with Supply Chain, Sales, Quality, Engineering, and Operations to obtain required technical and cost inputs, resolve discrepancies, and confirm execution assumptions. Assess pricing, margin, lead-time, technical, and execution risks before quotes are submitted and ensure appropriate escalation or approval when risk thresholds are exceeded. Maintain appropriate estimating documentation, pricing assumptions, source information, and supporting records in accordance with company and applicable government-contracting requirements. Develop and improve estimating standards, tools, historical cost data, and quote-review processes to increase estimating accuracy, speed, consistency, and profitability. Identify potential risks early and ensure appropriate escalation and resolution. Drive cross-functional accountability for program deliverables. Process Improvement & Operational Excellence Assess current processes, identify gaps, and implement practical improvements. Establish and reinforce standardized processes where consistency is needed. Identify inefficiencies, duplication of effort, communication gaps, and unclear ownership. Use operational and business data to evaluate performance and support decision-making. Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve productivity, quality, delivery, cost, and customer satisfaction. Partner with Quality and other functional leaders to ensure operational practices support applicable quality and regulatory requirements. Help create a culture of continuous improvement rather than relying on historical practices or individual preferences. Communication & Cross-Functional Alignment Establish effective communication routines across departments and leadership levels. Ensure priorities, changes, expectations, and decisions are communicated clearly and consistently. Facilitate cross-functional problem solving when issues span multiple departments. Provide regular updates to executive leadership regarding site performance, risks, opportunities, and resource needs. Represent the Las Cruces operation in broader company discussions and ensure site needs and capabilities are understood by senior leadership. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Operations, Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Program Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered. 8+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing, operations, program management, or a related environment. Demonstrated experience leading a multi-functional operation or manufacturing site. Experience managing and developing supervisors and other operational personnel. Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production planning, quality, supply chain, and program execution. Demonstrated experience with estimating, quoting, pricing, or cost analysis in a manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or related environment. Experience reviewing technical drawings, specifications, Bills of Material (BOMs), and customer requirements to support pricing and execution decisions. Strong financial and commercial acumen, including the ability to evaluate cost drivers, pricing assumptions, margins, and business risk. Strong proficiency with Excel and experience using ERP/MRP, pricing, or cost-data systems. Experience working in an aerospace, defense, government contracting, or other highly regulated manufacturing environment strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to establish accountability, standardize processes, and drive organizational consistency. Strong business judgment and the ability to make timely decisions based on available information. Ability to balance customer requirements, operational capacity, quality, cost, schedule, and employee needs. Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills. Comfortable working directly with employees at all levels of an organization. Demonstrated ability to lead through influence while maintaining appropriate authority and accountability. This position may also be eligible for an incentive plan based on individual performance and company meeting defined targets.
