Manufacturing The Opportunity We are looking for a Director of Operations to take ownership of the day-to-day operations of a growing manufacturing business in Bradford, Tennessee. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows how to run an operation, lead people, solve problems, and drive execution. You will oversee production, purchasing, quality, equipment maintenance, and the team while ensuring the operation consistently delivers against customer commitments and business goals. This is not a role for someone who wants to manage from an office. We are looking for a player-coach who is comfortable being on the floor, working alongside the team, identifying problems, and holding people accountable for results. What You'll OwnTeam Leadership Lead, develop, and hold accountable the manufacturing team and frontline leaders. Establish clear expectations and operating standards across the business. Have direct performance conversations and address problems quickly and fairly. Build a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement. Support hiring, onboarding, development, and performance management. Production & Execution Own the flow of work through the plant, including scheduling, sequencing, capacity planning, and labor allocation. Ensure production and shipment targets are consistently met. Coordinate across operations, programming, sales, and the front office so everyone is working from the same plan. Identify and eliminate bottlenecks that limit throughput. Improve on-time delivery, productivity, and overall operating performance. Purchasing & Supply Chain Own purchasing and vendor management for the operation. Source raw materials and negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times with suppliers. Manage inventory levels and improve inventory accuracy. Balance material availability with working-capital requirements. Develop stronger supplier relationships and address supply-chain issues before they impact production. Quality & Safety Own the quality system and ensure products consistently meet customer requirements. Drive corrective action around quality issues, scrap, rework, and customer complaints. Establish and reinforce a strong safety culture. Ensure compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and operating requirements. Equipment & Maintenance Build and maintain a proactive preventive-maintenance program. Identify equipment constraints and prioritize maintenance based on operational risk. Evaluate, justify, and support the installation of new equipment. Improve equipment uptime and reduce unplanned downtime. Systems & Performance Establish and track operating KPIs across production, quality, delivery, inventory, and profitability. Use data to identify problems, establish priorities, and drive improvement. Improve existing systems and processes where they create unnecessary complexity or slow down execution. Support ERP implementation and improvement initiatives. Provide clear reporting on operational performance and priorities to ownership. What We're Looking For 5+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Experience owning a broad operation rather than managing only one functional department. Strong people leadership with the willingness to set expectations and hold people accountable. Hands-on experience with production planning, purchasing, inventory, quality, and/or maintenance. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and drive projects through completion. Comfortable operating in a smaller organization where leaders are expected to solve problems themselves. Experience working with ERP or manufacturing management systems. Ability to understand operating metrics and use them to drive better performance. Located within commuting distance of
