This position performs specialized duties in support of athletic programming. Plans, organizes, and oversees adult recreational programs; conducts organizational meetings; creates rules and regulations; collects fees; coordinates schedules and tournament brackets; conducts hearings concerning rule violations; registers teams with national organizations; orders equipment and trophies; updates division Web site with league schedules, standings, and photos. Trains, assigns, supervises, and directs athletic staff. Monitors budgetary monies to ensure fund availability; ensures that vendors and employees are properly paid. Serves as a liaison with volunteer youth sports organizations to ensure compliance with government rules. Recruits, organizes, and oversees special events. Schedules, conducts, and collects fees for youth coach certification classes; collects fees for re-certifications. Receives and processes work order requests from various user groups and individuals. Monitors facilities use to ensure safety of program participants. Coordinates with Muscogee County School District to schedule sporting events. Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge of the principles of athletic facility and program management. Knowledge of the principles and practices of budgetary administration. Skill in problem solving and decision making. Skill in management and supervision. Skill in operating standard office equipment including work related computer applications. Skill in oral and written communication. Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and must be able to distinguish between shades of color.
