Ambulatory Management Intern Location:

Interns will have the opportunity to support efforts at various Penn Medicine locations in the Philadelphia region, more details regarding specific locations will be discussed during the interview process

•This position for the 2027 Penn Medicine Ambulatory Management Internship is a 10-week program between May 2027 and August 2027. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until November 16th 2026. Location will be in or around the Philadelphia, PA area on project assignments

Summary:

The Penn Medicine Ambulatory Management Intern is a structured, preceptor-led, immersive program for current graduate-level students who are pursuing an MHA, MPH, MBA, or other healthcare administration-related master's degree. The Ambulatory Management Intern will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in various areas of the healthcare sector including operations, data analysis, strategic planning, finance, and practice management.

Responsibilities:

Assists the assigned department in maintaining a patient/customer focus, supports the delivery of high-quality care, shares a passion for patient and customer-centered care, and assists in meeting or exceeding patient satisfaction and financial/operational targets. Engage with health system and department leadership to gain an understanding of the organization, patient populations served, organizational goals and objectives, and many other aspects of providing quality healthcare services. Rotate through various divisions such as operations, revenue cycle, data analytics, and quality and safety with the goal of providing ideas to grow and improve the business. Complete business-focused projects to research, propose ideas and solutions and present the final project at the conclusion of the program. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory standards (ex TJC, DOH, FDA, HIPAA, HCFA, DPW, LCGME, SCGME, etc.). Flexibly and readily adopts new processes and engages in practice operation changes. Rotation and observations of front-line level role functions and/or departments may be required to enrich the Resident's overall work experience.

Credentials:

Penn Medicine Education or Equivalent Experience:

Bachelor's Degree or combined Bachelor's/Master's Degree program, actively enrolled in an integrated 5 year BS/MHA program. Bachelor's Degree required upon program commencement, proof of enrollment in accredited Bachelor's Degree program accepted upon hire.
