Job Description

Senior Project Manager — High-End Custom Residential Construction Rasmussen Construction |
Novato, California Salary:
$110,000-$170,000 annually, based on qualifications Rasmussen Construction is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to independently lead exceptional residential projects and become a fundamental part of our team. Our company combines the technical capability and modern project management systems needed for highly complex construction with the warmth and personal attention of a compact office. Clients come to us for our craftsmanship and integrity. They stay with us because of the relationships we build and the service we provide. We are looking for someone with deep construction knowledge, sound judgment, and highly polished communication skills—someone who can take full ownership of project execution while maintaining strong relationships with clients, architects, designers, subcontractors, and our own team. The Opportunity You will manage projects, working directly with on-site superintendents and shared administrative support. Depending on project demands and construction phases, your workload will typically include one to three major projects, along with oversight of our service manager's coordination of smaller projects for past clients. Our work ranges from small projects for our long-term clients to large custom homes and complete estate development. Our target projects are major renovations and new residences of approximately 3,500-8,000 square feet, typically spanning 12-24 months. You should expect to manage projects of all sizes and be comfortable adapting your approach to the distinct challenges of both large and small projects. This position also offers meaningful involvement in company operations, including crew scheduling across projects and the ongoing improvement of our systems and processes. For the right person, responsibilities may also extend into broader business development. Responsibilities Lead assigned projects with ownership of budgets, schedules, coordination, documentation, follow-through, and project status reporting. Coordinate closely with superintendents to anticipate construction challenges, resolve issues, and maintain quality and progress. Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, architects, designers, subcontractors, and Rasmussen staff. Communicate project needs clearly and diplomatically, helping clients and design teams make timely decisions while understanding their priorities. Manage subcontractor scopes, procurement, change orders, project financial tracking, and reporting. Maintain accurate schedules, meeting records, decision logs, and other essential project documentation. Coordinate crew scheduling and staffing needs across projects in collaboration with the field team and other project managers. Oversee the service manager's coordination of smaller projects and ongoing work for past clients. Assist with estimating. Participate in on-going refinement of internal systems and processes to improve efficiency, accountability, and client service. Develop relationships with local design partners that support long-term collaboration and future projects. Qualifications A minimum of five years of experience as a lead project manager in high-end custom residential construction. In-depth knowledge of all phases of residential construction and building systems, with the ability to evaluate details, anticipate conflicts, and help resolve complex technical issues. Demonstrated ability to independently manage project schedules, budgets, teams, and client relationships. Highly polished written and verbal communication skills. Strong leadership, organization, and follow-through, with the ability to balance immediate project demands and broader company priorities. High computer proficiency and experience with cloud-based project management, digital takeoff, project scheduling, and database-based estimating and project financial software. Comfort working in both office and jobsite environments. Ability to commute daily to our Novato office and travel to project locations. Location and Work Environment Our remodeled office is located on Grant Avenue in downtown Novato. Most of our current work is in Marin County and San Francisco. Our service area also includes Sonoma and Napa counties and, occasionally, the East Bay, with an interest in expanding our presence in Sonoma and Napa. This is primarily an office and jobsite based position. Candidates should anticipate commuting to the office daily. Remote work flexibility may be considered where appropriate; however, routine office presence is required. Compensation and Benefits Annual base salary of $110,000-$170,000 , based on qualifications. Kaiser health coverage fully paid for the employee. Paid time off. 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching. Company vehicle. Company cell phone and service plan. Company computer.
