Full-time Position Summary Cannon Valley Graziers is hiring a Project Manager to oversee our vegetation-management operations throughout Mississippi. This position is responsible for coordinating crews, equipment, schedules, budgets, client communication, and field performance across multiple solar facilities. The Project Manager will work closely with Crew Leads, our Operations and Maintenance Lead, Herbicide Specialist, and Director of Operations to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to client expectations. The right person for this role is highly organized, comfortable managing multiple jobsites, capable of leading field teams, and able to make sound decisions in a fast-moving, weather-dependent environment. This is a field-based management position. The Project Manager will maintain a regular presence at active jobsites but will spend most of their time planning work, supporting field leaders, communicating with clients, monitoring performance, and solving operational problems. Our services include commercial mowing, targeted grazing, herbicide application, remediation seeding, equipment operation, and other forms of large-scale land management. Our crews work in demanding field conditions and rely on strong planning, communication, accountability, and equipment management to complete projects safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Scheduling Develop and maintain the operating schedule for mowing, herbicide application, trimming, remediation, and other vegetation-management work. Coordinate staffing, equipment, transportation, and site assignments across multiple active projects. Sequence work based on client deadlines, vegetation conditions, weather, site accessibility, crew capacity, and equipment availability. Adjust the schedule as conditions change and clearly communicate updates to employees, clients, and company leadership. Identify potential delays early and develop recovery plans when projects fall behind. Make productive use of available weather windows and minimize preventable downtime. Client Communication Serve as the primary operational point of contact for assigned Mississippi clients and site representatives. Provide clear updates regarding project progress, upcoming mobilizations, delays, site conditions, and operational concerns. Ensure all work meets the approved scope of work, client requirements, safety expectations, and company quality standards. Document and escalate requests for additional or out-of-scope work. Respond professionally to client concerns and coordinate corrective action when necessary. Participate in site walks, client meetings, inspections, and seasonal planning discussions. Crew and Personnel Leadership Provide direct leadership to Crew Leads, the Operations and Maintenance Lead, and the Herbicide Specialist. Establish clear expectations for safety, production, quality, attendance, communication, reporting, and equipment care. Conduct regular check-ins with field leaders and address staffing or performance concerns promptly. Coach employees, provide constructive feedback, and document performance issues accurately. Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, discipline, and employee development. Promote fair and consistent treatment of employees. Maintain professional boundaries with employees, subcontractors, and client representatives. Address unsafe behavior, misconduct, poor performance, or other serious concerns immediately. Production and Quality Control Monitor daily and weekly production against project schedules and client deadlines. Conduct regular site visits to review work quality, vegetation compliance, crew performance, and equipment condition. Confirm that assigned work is completed before crews leave a site. Address low productivity, incomplete work, repeated rework, and quality deficiencies. Maintain an accurate understanding of the status of each active Mississippi project. Coordinate corrective work when client or company standards have not been met. Reporting and Documentation Ensure daily safety documentation, work reports, production records, photographs, equipment inspections, and maintenance logs are completed correctly. Review reports for accuracy and completeness before they are submitted. Provide regular project updates to the Director of Operations. Track completed work, upcoming work, staffing, equipment availability, budget concerns, safety issues, client concerns, and project risks. Immediately report significant incidents, delays, infrastructure damage, personnel issues, or client escalations. Maintain organized and accurate project records using company systems. Budget and Cost Management Monitor project and regional expenses against approved budgets. Track labor, overtime, fuel, lodging, repairs, equipment rentals, subcontractor costs, and field purchases. Review routine purchase requests from field leaders. Ensure purchases are properly documented and supported by receipts. Identify recurring cost overruns and recommend corrective action. Assist with estimating, project forecasting, and end-of-season financial review. Equipment and Logistics Coordinate the movement of mowers, skid steers, tractors, trucks, trailers, herbicide equipment, and other field resources. Assign qualified drivers and operators based on licensing, experience, and equipment requirements. Ensure equipment transportation follows DOT requirements, load-securement standards, weight limits, and company policies. Maintain visibility into equipment location, condition, availability, and maintenance needs. Coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance with the Operations and Maintenance Lead and mechanical support staff. Ensure unsafe or damaged equipment is removed from service. Transport equipment when qualified and operationally necessary. Safety and Compliance Maintain responsibility for safety performance across assigned Mississippi operations. Ensure field leaders conduct required daily safety meetings, equipment inspections, and job-hazard reviews. Ensure employees have appropriate PPE and use it correctly. Enforce company policies, client safety rules, equipment procedures, heat-illness precautions, and chemical-handling requirements. Stop work when conditions are unsafe. Ensure injuries, near misses, property damage, and other incidents are immediately reported and properly addressed. Verify that herbicide records, SDS documentation, licensing requirements, and chemical inventories are maintained when applicable. Encourage employees to report safety concerns without fear of retaliation. Business Development and Subcontractor Support Assist with site assessments, estimating, scope development, and proposal preparation for future Mississippi work. Provide accurate information regarding acreage, vegetation, site access, staffing needs, equipment requirements, and operational risks. Coordinate approved subcontractors and communicate schedules, safety requirements, reporting expectations, and quality standards. Verify subcontractor progress and completed work. Document and escalate subcontractor performance concerns. Field Support Maintain enough hands-on field knowledge to evaluate employees, equipment, production expectations, and site conditions. Provide temporary coverage as a Crew Lead, equipment operator, or Vegetation Technician during emergencies, absences, mobilizations, training, or critical production needs. Routine equipment operation should not interfere with project-management responsibilities. Required Qualifications Three or more years of experience managing field operations, projects, or distributed crews in landscaping, construction, agriculture, renewable energy, utility vegetation management, or a related industry. Experience supervising crew leaders or teams of at least 10 employees. Experience coordinating multiple active jobsites, schedules, employees, equipment, and competing priorities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate professionally with clients, employees, subcontractors, and company leadership. Demonstrated ability to hold employees accountable and document performance concerns. Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills. Ability to make sound decisions under pressure with limited supervision. Working knowledge of commercial mowing, heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, preventive maintenance, and field logistics. Ability to safely operate or evaluate the equipment used by field crews. Comfortable using mobile reporting applications, email, Excel or Google Sheets, Trello, cloud file storage, and mapping programs. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to remain insurable under company policies. Ability to travel throughout Mississippi. Ability to work a flexible and weather-dependent schedule. Preferred Qualifications Class A CDL with current medical certification. Experience hauling skid steers, tractors, mowers, or other heavy equipment. Experience working at solar facilities or around utility-scale infrastructure. Experience managing budgets, labor forecasts, overtime, and project costs. Commercial mowing or vegetation-management experience. Herbicide application experience or familiarity with licensed herbicide operations. Experience with DOT compliance and load securement. OSHA, first aid, CPR, or similar safety training. Physical and Schedule Requirements Ability to work outdoors in heat, humidity, rain, mud, dust, insects, and changing weather conditions. Ability to walk uneven terrain and active solar facilities. Ability to climb on and off trucks, trailers, and equipment. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to work early mornings, extended days, occasional weekends, and changing schedules based on weather and project needs. Ability to respond to urgent safety, personnel, client, or operational issues outside normal business hours when necessary.
