Job Description

Midstate Electric (MEC) is a rural electric distribution cooperative located in beautiful La Pine, Oregon. Nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, our service area is surrounded by open meadows, pristine lakes, and flowing rivers — making it the perfect place to achieve a healthy work-life balance. Midstate Electric Cooperative (MEC) is seeking a highly organized, collaborative, and results-driven Project Manager to lead strategic, operational, grant, and utility-related projects from planning through completion. This position manages multiple projects simultaneously, coordinates cross-functional teams, and ensures projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget. Key Responsiblities
  • Define project scope, objectives, requirements, timelines, budgets, resources, and measures of success.
  • Manage multiple projects and coordinate tasks, schedules, resources, and priorities with department managers.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and key resource for strategic initiatives, grants, and utility project work plans.
  • Facilitate collaboration across departments, contractors, vendors, consultants, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop project presentations, reports, dashboards, and status updates for staff and leadership.
  • Ensure projects align with MEC's strategic goals and organizational priorities.
  • Research and identify grant opportunities and coordinate grant applications with federal, state, city, and county agencies.
  • Monitor project performance, establish metrics, identify risks and challenges, and implement solutions.
  • Maintain clear, professional, and timely communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Promote a collaborative, respectful, safety-focused work environment consistent with MEC policies and expectations.
Additional Information:
Qualifications 1. Bachelor's degree, preferably in Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field; or five years of utility experience related to construction and/or engineering. 2. Strong written and verbal communication skills. 3. Experience coordinating grant applications with government agencies. 4. Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of detailed work while meeting deadlines and balancing competing priorities. 5. Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and project coordination skills. 6. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. 7. Valid Oregon Driver's License.
Preferred:
1. Experience in the electric utility industry. 2. Knowledge of electric utility work order processes and accounting practices. 3. Project management certification and/or professional project management experience. 4. Equivalent combinations of education, experience, and accomplishments may be considered.
