GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE

Durham Crisis Response Center seeks a Director of Legal Advocacy. The Director of Legal Advocacy provides leadership and oversight of DCRC's Legal Advocacy Program, ensuring effective delivery of legal advocacy, crisis intervention, court advocacy, and related support services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and stalking. The Director oversees program operations, staff supervision and development, program planning, quality assurance, community partnerships, volunteer and intern programming, data and reporting, and coordination with criminal and civil justice systems. The Director also represents DCRC in relevant community and professional settings and works to strengthen systems and services for survivors. The Director may maintain a limited client caseload or provide direct support when needed. Client safety, confidentiality, autonomy, and dignity are paramount. All services are provided using a trauma-informed, survivor-centered approach that recognizes the impact of trauma and creates an environment where survivors feel heard, believed, respected, and supported.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Bachelor's degree in social work, criminal justice, human services, public administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Experience supervising, coaching, or leading staff and interns. Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking, or other forms of intimate partner or family violence. Strong understanding of trauma-informed advocacy, survivor safety, confidentiality, and domestic violence dynamics. Ability to build and maintain effective community and justice-system partnerships. Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills. Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality. Commitment to survivor autonomy, safety, dignity, and equitable access to services. Preferred Master's degree in social work, public administration, criminal justice, nonprofit management, or related field, or a law degree. Knowledge of criminal and civil legal systems and barriers faced by survivors. Experience providing legal advocacy, working with legal service providers or within the North Carolina court system. Experience leading or participating in DVRT/SART, or similar collaborative groups. Experience with grant-funded programs, data collection, and grant reporting. Spanish language proficiency. WORKING CONDITIONS

Full-time, exempt position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week (unless otherwise approved by the Executive Director) Occasional evening and weekend work is required (monthly LAP on-call rotation and special events) Primarily office-based with regular work in court and community settings.
