Tourism & Economic Development Director Part-Time

Job Description

Job Summary The Town of Central is seeking a visionary, energetic, and community-minded Tourism & Economic Development Director to lead the Town's economic development, tourism, downtown revitalization, and Main Street initiatives. This position is ideal for a creative and motivated professional who enjoys building relationships, supporting local businesses, promoting community events, and helping a growing small town maintain its unique character. The Director will work closely with local businesses and property owners, developers, community organizations, Pickens County economic development and tourism partners, state agencies, and Town leadership to strengthen Central's economy and promote the community as a destination to live, work, visit, and do business.
Qualifications Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Marketing, Tourism/Hospitality, Urban Planning, Historic Preservation, or a related field is preferred. Relevant professional experience may substitute for formal education. Applicants should preferably have 2-4 years of experience in economic development, tourism, municipal government, Main Street programs, chamber of commerce operations, marketing, event management, or a related field. Compensation & Employment This is a part-time position paying $2,400 per month, with an expectation of approximately 20 hours per week . Normal working hours are generally Monday through Friday, approximately 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.; however, scheduling is flexible based on Town needs and events. Evening and weekend attendance will occasionally be required for Town Council meetings, community events, festivals, and other activities. The position includes 3-month and 6-month probationary evaluations , followed by annual evaluations. This part-time position does not include employee benefits or automatic cost-of-living increases. The position has the potential to expand in scope and compensation based upon the needs of the Town and future budget considerations.
