• Why does the job exist? The Fleet Services Supervisor provides central oversight, coordination, and management of the department's statewide vehicle fleet. This position serves as the department's lead fleet subject matter expert and provides guidance, direction, and support to field offices regarding fleet operations, vehicle maintenance, utilization, replacement, compliance, and fleet-related policies and procedures. This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining effective fleet management practices, providing training and technical assistance to field offices, monitoring fleet activities, and ensuring the department's vehicles are safe, properly maintained, efficiently utilized, and managed in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations and department policies How does it get done? Direct supervision of employees The description clearly states the position: Assigns and oversees work of at least two full time employees. Handles leave, annual evaluations, disciplinary recommendations. Oversight of Supervisory or Skilled Personnel The role provides direction and guidance to fleet mechanics and subordinate staff. It manages workflow, establishes priorities, and oversees daily operations. Management of Programs and Services The position administers: DOT compliance Preventative maintenance programs Fuel card program Fleet reservation system Department wide vehicle fleet operations Technical Expertise and Decision-Making Authority The job requires: Acting as the department¿s subject matter expert Making timely, well reasoned decisions Conducting inspections, audits, and compliance assessments Evaluating data and recommending fleet replacement or allocation actions Who are the customers? All CYFD staff utilizing a state vehicle. Ideal Candidate All CYFD staff utilizing a state vehicle. Minimum Qualification Three (3) years of work experience in a repair shop or maintenance facility. Educational experience in automotive service repair may substitute for required experience. Must possess or obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License, Class A (or equivalent license from another state) within one (1) year of hire. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.
