Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a Bilingual Call Center Operator for a temp-to-hire opportunity in San Bernardino, CA. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys helping people, managing high-volume calls, and supporting important community-based assistance programs. In this role, you will respond to phone and email inquiries, process client documents, update databases, schedule appointments, and provide professional support to visitors and callers. The work environment is office-based, team-oriented, and focused on confidentiality, accuracy, and respectful service. This is a strong opportunity for someone with clerical experience who is looking for stability, supportive leadership, and a path toward long-term employment. Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to high-volume phone and email inquiries regarding utility assistance, including answering questions and sending or receiving client documents.
  • Receive visitors, answer incoming calls, record messages, and route inquiries to the appropriate team members.
  • Print, scan, sort, file, and route applications and supporting documents accurately and confidentially.
  • Make outbound calls to schedule and confirm utility assistance appointments.
  • Update client database records with current statuses, concerns, notes, and related information.
  • Prepare template-based client notification letters and maintain logs, files, and cross-reference records. Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Handle high-volume inbound and outbound calls related to client assistance programs.
  • Process, scan, file, and route confidential client applications and documents.
  • Maintain accurate client records, logs, correspondence, and database updates.
  • Provide professional front office, clerical, and customer service support.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in a social service, public assistance, nonprofit, or high-volume customer service environment is helpful.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn internal systems, electronic applications, and database tools.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong telephone etiquette and ability to respond professionally to routine questions, complaints, and service requests.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when handling client information.
  • Strong organization, time management, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently, follow oral and written instructions, and meet short deadlines in a demanding environment.
  • Ability to communicate tactfully with individuals from varied social, economic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and perform basic clerical tasks such as filing, scanning, copying, and data entry.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, grasp, and lift up to 25 pounds as needed. Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual English and Spanish.
  • Previous experience supporting utility assistance, social service, community assistance, or client intake programs is preferred.
  • Experience working in a confidential, deadline-driven administrative support role is a plus.
