The PHES (Propulsion-HVAC & Engine Systems) Senior Designer position is for a highly skilled and experienced designer for the Propulsion HVAC and Engine Systems Design Services team. The candidate will use NX CAD to perform packaging, concepts, designs, layouts and checking of Engine System components including, but not limited to the following: Plastic (or sheet metal) parts for the air induction systems, (air boxes, ducts, hoses, engine covers, etc.), and exhaust systems (hot end, cold end, etc.)Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Creation of explicit geometry, including use of parametric modeling.
Completion of advanced packaging feasibility studies.
Completion of manufacturability and/or feasibility studies.
Packaging assessments of new components / systems (i.e. Air Induction, Cooling, HVAC, Fuels, and Exhaust systems, etc.).Working with engineers to complete manufacturing/service studies.
Redesign models and complex assemblies to improve design quality.
Commonization studies.
Basic Qualifications:
Associate's degree in design / engineering or related area of study OR High school diploma / GED and relevant training / experience in design or engineering field.
Minimum 7 years of experience in NX or Catia - basic skills test may be administeredMinimum 7 years' design experience with relevant experienceExtensive experience with NX parametric solid modeling and TeamcenterStrong written and oral communications to lead design and packaging meetingsStrong organization, planning, and data management skillsAbility to create designs per engineering standardsAbility to understand, create, and interpret 2D drawings, 3D models and apply tolerancing0-20% travel, domestic and international
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering or a technology related disciplineExtensive experience using NX or CATIA parametric solid modelingMinimum 7 years of Air Induction Systems design and releasing experienceStrong interpersonal skills, to include ability to work effectively within an extended teamExperience in the design of complex CAD models assemblies and componentsSelf-starter who is comfortable managing multiple assignmentsAbility to apply GD&T and perform component stacksKnowledgeable of automotive systems and subsystemsKnowledge of manufacturing and assembly processesThe PHES (Propulsion-HVAC & Engine Systems) Senior Designer position is for a highly skilled and experienced designer for the Propulsion HVAC and Engine Systems Design Services team.
