Qualifications & Experience:
Proven proficiency in interpreting for the Deaf or Hard of Hearing within school settings Expertise in Braille transcription, including the ability to prepare and adapt instructional materials into Braille Understanding of current educational practices and accessibility requirements Strong communication and collaboration skills with teachers, staff, and families Certification or credentialing relevant to interpreting or braille services (preferred) Experience working with students of varying ages and abilities is highly valued
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate communication between students, peers, and educators using both sign language interpretation and Braille resources Prepare and adapt classroom content, handouts, and tests into Braille as needed Collaborate with educators to ensure teaching strategies meet accessibility standards for visually impaired and Deaf/Hard of Hearing students Offer specialized support in the classroom and during school activities to promote student engagement and success Contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings by providing progress updates and recommendations for supports Maintain records related to interpretation services and Braille materials provided
