Job Description

Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter or ASL Paraprofessional in an elementary school setting. This contract role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact, working one-on-one with a Deaf student. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, following the school calendar. Qualifications EIPA score of 2.5 or higher or a degree in interpreting plus demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language Ability to interpret expressively and receptively, as assessed during the interview process Experience working in K-12 or similar student-centered environments preferred Professionalism, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment Responsibilities Provide interpreting services for a Deaf elementary school student throughout the school day Facilitate communication between the student, peers, and school staff to ensure equal access to educational material Support the student's participation in classroom activities, lessons, and school events Collaborate with teachers and specialists to address the student's academic and social-emotional needs Maintain accurate records of services and report on student progress as needed Engage in ongoing communication with the educational team regarding student needs or adjustments In this role, your fluency in ASL and dedication to educational equity will directly enhance a child's access to learning and growth.
