Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Hanover, PA

Job Description

Make an impact in education by supporting student success as an onsite Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming school year. This contract position offers the opportunity to work 1:1 with a 5th-grade student in a Life Skills classroom, providing crucial interpretive services within an engaging academic environment. This assignment is full-time (35 hours per week), running from August 19, 2026, to June 2, 2027, with a set schedule of 7:20 am to 2:10 pm. Youll play an essential role in fostering communication and supporting student growth throughout the school year.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
Valid and current credential as a Sign Language Interpreter Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) A minimum EIPA score of 3.5 or higher is required Previous experience working in educational settings, particularly with elementary-aged students, is preferred Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to work effectively with teachers, staff, and students Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and a supportive presence in the classroom
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 sign language interpretation for a 5th-grade student throughout the school day Collaborate with special education teachers and support staff in the Life Skills room Assist in adapting classroom materials and activities to ensure full student participation Support the individual learning, behavioral, and social needs of the assigned student Maintain accurate documentation and communication regarding student interactions and progress This school-based opportunity offers a rewarding chance to contribute meaningfully in the world of education, helping a student thrive both academically and socially.
