This contract role is based on-site and seeks a certified interpreter ready to facilitate communication in a dynamic academic setting for the 2026-2027 school year, starting as soon as possible.
Qualifications:
Current certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or the Texas Commission for the
Deaf and Hard of Hearing:
BEI I/II
under the previous system, or Basic under the current certification guidelines. Proven experience interpreting in educational settings, preferably with school-aged children. Must complete district-specific fingerprinting and background check prior to start. Strong command of sign language interpretation protocols and ethical standards. Ability to work collaboratively with educators, staff, and families.
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret spoken language into sign language (and vice versa) for students and school personnel within a single school assignment. Support students in both classroom and non-classroom settings from early childhood through middle school. Foster access to curriculum, activities, and social integration for deaf and hard of hearing students. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Participate in collaboration meetings and implement best practices for educational interpreting. This role offers the stability of a full school year contract, a focused caseload at one school, and the opportunity to create meaningful connections with students and staff.
