Job Description

Step into a meaningful contract opportunity supporting students in an educational setting as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter. This on-site position begins as soon as possible and continues through May 26, 2027. Youll be working primarily with Pre-K through 8th-grade students, facilitating effective communication and inclusive learning environments. You will be based at one campus, collaborating closely with teaching staff and educational teams to empower Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
Valid certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or Texas Commission for the
Deaf and Hard of Hearing:
BEI I or II (previous system), or Basic (current system) Proven experience supporting students in K-8 settings as a Sign Language Interpreter Strong understanding of deaf culture and educational interpreting practices District fingerprinting and background check required before starting
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver accurate interpretation services between spoken English and sign language in classroom and school environments Support student participation during classroom instruction, school activities, and assessments Foster clear communication between students, staff, and peers to promote inclusion and academic success Ensure interpreting practices align with ethical standards and confidentiality Collaborate with educators to adapt materials and ensure accessible instruction
