Job Description

Student Worker Theatre Scene Shop Number of Openings:
12Purpose/Objective of the
Role:
The Chappelear theatre scene shop worker assists with the construction, maintenance and strike of the theatrical sets, lights and props. This position provides hands on experience with carpentry, painting, welding and technical theatre. The worker will also assist in keeping an organized and safe working environment.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
Set construction using power tools for both wood and metal workPaint scenic elements as neededMaintain a clean and organized shop, following safety protocols set by the
Technical DirectorQualifications:
Interest in learning how to use power toolsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically active environment Ability to work in teams and independently as needed

This job provides valuable hands-on experience in building and fabrication that is highly desired in technical theatre and well beyond. There are also many opportunities to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills that will be critical in any managerial position.
