Student Worker Theatre Scene Shop Number of Openings:
12Purpose/Objective of the
Role:
The Chappelear theatre scene shop worker assists with the construction, maintenance and strike of the theatrical sets, lights and props. This position provides hands on experience with carpentry, painting, welding and technical theatre. The worker will also assist in keeping an organized and safe working environment.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
Set construction using power tools for both wood and metal workPaint scenic elements as neededMaintain a clean and organized shop, following safety protocols set by the
Technical DirectorQualifications:
Interest in learning how to use power toolsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically active environment Ability to work in teams and independently as needed

A Set or Exhibit Designer designs display booths or exhibits for museums, galleries or trade shows. Develops drawings and plans to accommodate the specific space, lighting and temperature requirements of materials to be exhibited; builds or supervises building of exhibits. Designs stage sets and scenery for performances, primarily for live theater performances, or sets for filmed performances or for events such as press conferences. Works with directors and producers to plan props and materials needed for a show.
