Responsibilities Design and deliver comprehensive art lessons aligned with curriculum standards, including visual arts, digital media, and creative writing components. Develop innovative curricula that incorporate current learning technology and adapt to various learning styles. Manage classroom responsibilities efficiently while fostering a positive, inclusive environment conducive to artistic exploration. Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, providing constructive feedback and instructional modifications as needed. Mentor students individually or in groups, supporting their personal growth and academic achievement in art and related subjects such as literacy education and creative writing. Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects, curriculum implementation, and educational technology integration to enhance learning experiences. Communicate regularly with parents about student progress, behavior management strategies, and upcoming projects or assessments. Support students with special education needs by implementing tailored instructional modifications and accommodations. Engage in ongoing professional development related to childhood development, classroom management, standardized testing preparation, and teaching physical education when applicable. Contribute to school initiatives such as library services, extracurricular activities like sports coaching (if applicable), or academic advising programs. Skills Proven experience teaching high school students in diverse classroom settings with strong classroom management skills. Expertise in curriculum development for visual arts and familiarity with AP style guidelines for written components. Strong knowledge of learning technology tools including digital media platforms and educational software. Excellent communication skills for effective parent-teacher interactions and public speaking engagements. Ability to adapt instruction based on different learning styles and cultural backgrounds while working with students from varied socioeconomic contexts. Experience working with children with special education needs or in Montessori or other specialized educational environments is a plus. Proficiency in subjects such as geometry, trigonometry, algebra, calculus, or other math disciplines can enhance interdisciplinary teaching efforts. Skills in proofreading, copy editing, Chicago Manual of Style standards for written assignments, and instructional modifications are highly valued. Background in sports coaching or physical education enhances the ability to support holistic student development when relevant. Demonstrated ability to mentor students academically and personally while fostering creativity through lesson planning and instructional innovation.
