This position involves planning and leading safe, effective, and engaging group fitness classes for participants of all ages, abilities, and fitness levels. The instructor provides instruction, demonstrations, motivation, and appropriate exercise modifications to ensure participant safety, inclusion, and a positive experience while maintaining class control. Responsibilities include monitoring participant activity, responding to safety concerns or emergencies, and ensuring all programs adhere to departmental policies and safety standards. The role also includes preparing class spaces and equipment and fostering a welcoming environment that promotes health and wellness.

Supervision:

Works under the supervision of the Health & Wellness Supervisor and receives oversight from the Assistant Director and Director of Parks & Recreation.

Work Hours:

Flexible, including weekdays and weekends, based on program needs and instructor availability.

Hourly Rate:

$14 to $28 and is commensurate upon education and experience.

Education & Experience:

Candidates must hold current, nationally recognized certifications in Group Fitness or Personal Training (e.g., ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NASM, or equivalent), along with Adult and Pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications. A high school diploma is required, with a bachelor's degree preferred. Prior experience leading various group fitness disciplines such as yoga, Zumba, Les Mills, indoor cycling, aquatic fitness, HIIT, strength training, or dance fitness is also preferred.
