Job Description

Methodist College invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Biology to begin Fall 2027. Applicants interested in starting inJanuary 2027 should indicate their availability in the cover letter. We are searching for a candidate with the ability to offerundergraduate courses in microbiology as well as anatomy and physiology. Ability to teach chemistry and/or a graduate biology statisticscourse is a plus. The Assistant Professor of Biology provides educational leadership, ensures a quality learning environment for allstudents, and plans, organizes, implements and assesses didactic, laboratory and clinical experiences as assigned within the vision,mission, values, and learning domains of the College.
Responsibilities Teaching:
Demonstrates a current knowledge/skill set in area(s) of expertise; demonstrates mastery of teaching area Participates in coursedevelopment and evaluation Serves as a faculty advisor to students and/or mentor to other faculty Articulates a teachingphilosophy Demonstrates a mastery of current and relevant literature through incorporation of these materials into classroomwork Uses creative teaching strategies to help students develop critical thinking and analyticskills
Scholarship:
Maintains teaching and/or clinical expertise by active engagement in the discipline Shares expertisewith colleagues Engages in collaborative research or creative activity
Service:
Contributes to two academic committees atthe College; serves as a leader on one committee Serves on as a volunteer on a local committee in a professionalcapacity Serves as a leader on a college committee Participates in student recruitment Participates in qualityimprovement Presents at workshops or programs at the local level
