Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and energetic Afterschool Teacher to join our vibrant youth development team! In this role, you will create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and have fun after school hours. Duties Plan and facilitate a variety of educational and recreational activities that promote childhood development, creativity, and teamwork. Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety at all times through effective child supervision and behavior management. Implement classroom management strategies to maintain a positive learning environment and address behavioral challenges constructively. Provide first aid and respond to emergencies following established protocols, including CPR and AED operation when necessary. Support children with special needs by adapting activities and providing individualized attention in collaboration with specialists when applicable. Foster strong relationships with children, parents, and team members through clear communication and compassionate guidance. Maintain accurate attendance records, activity logs, and incident reports to ensure compliance with safety standards. Qualifications Prior experience working with children in educational, childcare, camp, or youth program settings is highly preferred. Knowledge of childhood development principles, behavior management techniques, and first aid protocols including CPR and AED operation. Demonstrated ability to lead youth group activities, facilitate team-building exercises, and manage classroom dynamics effectively. Experience in outdoor work environments or outdoor activity facilitation is a plus. Strong team leadership skills with the ability to collaborate with colleagues to create a cohesive program environment. Excellent communication skills for engaging with children of various ages as well as parents and staff. Certifications such as first aid, CPR, AED operation, or special education training are desirable but not mandatory; willingness to obtain these certifications is expected.
