STEM & Robotics Instructor - Elementary & After-School Programs Magikid Robolab Bellevue | Bellevue, WA Part-Time | $24.00 - $30.00 / hour About the Role Magikid Robolab Bellevue is looking for an enthusiastic, dependable, and hands-on STEM & Robotics Instructor to lead engaging programs at our Bellevue lab (Factoria) and at partner elementary schools across the Eastside area. Our programs introduce students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade (K-5) to the fundamentals of engineering, mechanics, coding, and teamwork. We use age-appropriate, hands-on platforms ranging from early-STEM mechanical building kits like Robotis OLLO to VEX GO and VEX IQ robotics with block-based programming. We are seeking instructors who can bridge the gap between technical intuition and patient classroom leadership. Whether your strength lies in engineering/robotics and you love working with kids, or your background is in education/childcare and you have a natural knack for building and troubleshooting mechanical systems, we provide comprehensive curriculum, lesson plans, equipment, and training to support your success.

Responsibilities Lead Engaging Classes:

Teach hands-on robotics and STEM sessions at our Bellevue lab and at local partner elementary schools.

Guide Building & Coding:

Walk students through mechanical assemblies (gears, linkages, structural integrity) and block-based programming challenges using Robotis

OLLO, VEX

GO, and VEX IQ .

Manage Classroom Behavior:

Maintain an organized, safe, and positive learning environment; manage student attention, establish routines, and resolve partner conflicts during partner builds and activities.

Facilitate Problem-Solving:

Explain technical concepts in an accessible, age-appropriate manner; encourage students to test, troubleshoot, and iterate rather than simply giving them the answers.

Handle Program Logistics:

Pick up robotics kit bins from our Bellevue lab, transport them to assigned partner school campuses, oversee student cleanup so all materials remain organized, and return equipment intact.

Communicate Observations:

Monitor individual and team progress, sharing helpful observations with parents and the Magikid administrative team.

Additional Program Support:

Assist with workshops, open houses, weekend lab sessions, or seasonal camps as opportunities arise.

Qualifications Required:

Must have a reliable personal vehicle and valid driver's license to transport robotics kit bins to partner elementary school campuses each afternoon. Available during weekday afternoons (roughly 2:30 PM - 6:30 PM , at least 2-3 days per week; exact shift lengths vary by school schedule). Currently located in the Greater Seattle / Eastside area and able to start immediately in September. Comfortable learning, building, and troubleshooting mechanical kits and block-coding platforms. Strong communication skills, patience, and dependability when working with elementary-aged children (K-5). Able to pass standard background checks required for school district and youth work environments.

Preferred:

Experience leading or assisting groups of children in schools, after-school programs, summer camps, or tutoring centers. Hands-on familiarity with educational robotics or building platforms (e.g., VEX GO, VEX IQ, Robotis

OLLO, FIRST LEGO

League, or LEGO Mindstorms). Familiarity with block-based coding environments (Scratch, VEXcode, etc.). Academic coursework or background in Engineering, Computer Science, Education, Child Development, or related STEM fields. Availability for weekend shifts (Saturdays or Sundays) at our Bellevue lab. Schedule & Hours Type:

Part-Time (typically 6-15 hours per week depending on availability and assigned shifts).

Primary Shifts:

Weekday afternoons (roughly 2:30 PM - 6:30 PM ).

Optional Shifts:

Weekend sessions (Saturdays and Sundays) and weekday evening in-lab classes. Compensation $24.00 - $30.00 per hour , depending on hands-on robotics experience, teaching/classroom management background, and weekly availability.
