Job Description

This candidate will work at Growing Minds Early Learning Center but will be employed by RSU 19 The 1:1 Support Teacher provides individualized support to a child with more intensive developmental, medical, or educational needs. This position is responsible for ensuring the child receives appropriate care, support, and opportunities to participate fully in classroom activities. The staff member will support skill development through both individual and group interactions while helping maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1:1 Child Support Responsibilities Provide direct 1:1 supervision and support to a designated child with intensive needs throughout the day. Ensure the child's physical, emotional, developmental, and safety needs are consistently met. Support the child in participating in classroom routines, transitions, activities, and peer interactions. Implement individualized support strategies and interventions as directed by teachers, specialists, and/or care plans. Target and reinforce individualized goals and skills during both structured and unstructured activities. Encourage communication, independence, self-help skills, emotional regulation, and positive social interactions. Monitor the child closely for safety and provide assistance as needed with mobility, sensory, behavioral, or self-care needs. Maintain consistent communication with classroom teachers and administration regarding the child's progress, needs, and daily participation. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or experience in early childhood education, special education, or related field preferred. Experience working with young children, particularly children with additional or intensive support needs, preferred. Ability to remain patient, calm, flexible, and responsive in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to follow individualized plans, classroom procedures, and program policies. Must meet all state licensing requirements and background check requirements. Physical Requirements Ability to actively supervise children at all times. Ability to sit on the floor, bend, kneel, lift (up to 50 lbs), and assist children as needed. Ability to move quickly to ensure child safety and support participation throughout the day.
Pay:
$18.00 - $26.00 per hour
