We are seeking a creative, collaborative, energetic, and hard-working individual to be a Teacher in our Toddler (18 months through 36 months) classroom for a full-time position. Our Reggio-Emilia approach believes that a child's development occurs through their interest, investigation, exploration, and experimentation of the world around them. We employ a combination of curriculum and guided projects, allowing children to follow their natural curiosity while being introduced to new topics and ideas, which we believe leads to a love of learning.
Responsibilities include:
Collaborate with the Little School team to exemplify Reggio-Inspired philosophy and practices and participate in documentation strategies and observation protocols while following the Little School's curriculum. Work alongside co-teachers to implement Reggio-Emilia approach in the classroom Be able to effectively speak with parents and solve queries in regard to the school and or child's behavior when necessary Participate in training as required through OCFS Model activities, language, and caregiving routines for assistant teachers, including effective communication skills Serve as a resource for parents regarding parenting and developmental challenges, such as potty training, sleep, or concerns about developmental milestones or delays Create authentic and engaging connections with staff and children. Document children's processes and thinking through observation protocols, photography, audio/video recording, note-taking, art, and authentic work samples.
Education and Experience:
Child Development Associate (CDA) or at least 12 college credits in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or closely related field; Bachelor's Degree preferred Knowledge of Reggio-Emilia or other child-centered pedagogies CPR/First Aid certification (preferred) Minimum 2 years of experience working with children birth through age 3 in a childcare setting Must pass OCFS (Office of Children and Family Services) background check and be cleared by a physician for physical labor Interested candidates should send a cover letter and resume to jobs @ allendalecolumbia.org.
