Job Description

High School Chemistry Teacher Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate High School Chemistry Teacher to inspire and educate students in the sciences. The ideal candidate will create engaging lesson plans, foster a positive learning environment, and support students' academic growth in chemistry. This role requires a strong understanding of scientific concepts, excellent communication skills, and the ability to motivate high school students to develop a love for science. The position is a paid opportunity, contributing to the educational development of young learners. Responsibilities Develop and deliver comprehensive chemistry lessons aligned with state standards and curriculum guidelines. Design engaging instructional activities that promote critical thinking and hands-on learning experiences. Assess student progress through assignments, tests, and laboratory work, providing timely feedback to support their academic growth. Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment conducive to learning and experimentation. Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student success and address individual learning needs. Stay current with educational best practices and advancements in science education to continually enhance teaching effectiveness. Manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering a respectful and inclusive atmosphere for all students. Participate in school meetings, professional development sessions, and extracurricular activities as required. Qualifications Valid California Preliminary or Clear Single Subject Credential in Chemistry (or eligibility to obtain one by July 2026). Eligibility for a California Single Subject Intern credential in Chemistry (candidate must earn an Intern credential by July 2026), or eligibility for a Short-Term Staff Permit (STSP) or Provisional Internship Permit (PIP). Valid CPR certification meeting standards established by the American Heart Association or equivalent organization. Strong knowledge of high school chemistry curriculum, laboratory safety protocols, and instructional best practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage students effectively. Ability to create an inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learners. Organizational skills necessary for lesson planning, assessment administration, and classroom management.
