Job Description

Middle Village Prep is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled 7th Grade Science Teacher to teach a curriculum focused on Physical Science and an Introduction to Earth Science. The successful candidate will provide students with a strong foundation in core scientific concepts, promote hands-on exploration, and prepare them for advanced science coursework in future grades—including the 8th Grade Regents Earth Science course. Primary Responsibilities Teach 7th Grade Science with a primary focus on Physical Science topics such as forces and motion, energy, matter, chemical reactions, and simple machines. Introduce students to Earth Science concepts, including Earth's systems, weather and climate, plate tectonics, and space science. Create and implement engaging, inquiry-based lesson plans aligned to the New York State Intermediate Science Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Foster scientific literacy and critical thinking through laboratory investigations, group work, and real-world problem-solving activities. Utilize various forms of assessment (formative and summative) to monitor student progress and differentiate instruction accordingly. Maintain organized and safe lab environments and guide students through the scientific method and hands-on experimentation. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure instructional consistency and alignment. Integrate educational technology and digital tools to enhance instruction and student engagement. Communicate consistently with students, families, and staff to support academic and behavioral success. Participate in faculty meetings, professional learning communities, and school-wide events. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Science Education, Physical Science, Earth Science, or a related field. Valid state teaching certification in Science (Grades 5-9 or 7-12, depending on state requirements). Experience teaching science at the middle school level. Strong knowledge of content in both Physical and Earth Sciences.
