SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER - PRESCHOOL/KINDERGARTEN BASES PROGRAM
Long Term Substitute Job Description Qualifications:
CT teaching certification in Special Education K-12 (165) Experience with students with Autism and developmental delays Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis, Discrete Trial Instruction preferred Experience with early intervention, ages 3-6 preferred Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills Must be flexible, creative, and demonstrate strong organizational skills Must be highly motivated and self-directed
Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively as a member of the interdisciplinary team to support students with academic, communication, socialization, and behavioral challenges who receive special education services in the BASES Program Collaborate closely with preschool and kindergarten teachers to ensure that students benefit from their time with non-disabled peers Provide case management, including development, implementation, and monitoring of IEP goals and objectives; collaborate with general education teachers; lead team meetings Collect and manage data pertaining to IEP goals and objectives and Behavior Intervention Plans Ensure that all related services, accommodations, and modifications are being implemented in the appropriate settings Conduct standardized testing and use this information to review and revise current IEP goals and objectives Adapt and modify curriculum materials and instructional approaches Implement and monitor behavior support and incentive plans for assigned students Communicate regularly with families Lead a team of paraeducators and behavior technicians Participate in PPTs and other meetings for assigned students and come prepared to present testing results and up-to-date information on progress toward goals and objectives Serve as a resource to the general education staff in regards to working with a diverse learner population Participate in professional development and other meetings with the special education department and school-wide faculty Other duties as assigned
