EMIT Learning is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher for an onsite contract position in Wolcott, CT for the 2026-2027 school year . The Special Education Teacher will provide specialized instruction and academic support to students with diverse learning needs in a school setting. Developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), adapting curriculum, monitoring student progress, maintaining accurate documentation, collaborating with general education teachers and related service providers, and communicating regularly with families. The ideal candidate has experience working in school-based special education, strong classroom management and instructional skills, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Credential Required:
Valid Connecticut Education Specialist Instruction Credential Duties Develop and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum and with developmental delays. Adapt instructional materials and activities using curriculum development strategies and educational technology integration to enhance learning outcomes. Collaborate closely with speech therapists, behavioral health specialists, parents, and other professionals to support student progress through team-based planning and intervention. Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management techniques and behavioral therapy strategies, creating a safe and supportive environment.
Qualifications:
Valid Connecticut Education Specialist Instruction Credential required Proven classroom experience working with students with disabilities in elementary school settings; experience with autism spectrum disorders support is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of childhood development principles, early intervention strategies, and classroom management techniques tailored for special education environments.
Pay:
$35.00 - $45.00 per hour
