Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into an impactful role as an Elementary Resource Teacher supporting students with mild disabilities in a dynamic, contract position. Beginning January 4th, you'll work full time in a dedicated school-based setting near Hartford City, IN, collaborating closely with general education teachers to foster a positive, inclusive learning environment. Your expertise as a Special Education Teacher will help guide and develop instructional strategies for students requiring tailored educational experiences. As a crucial resource for both students and staff, you will assist in self-contained blocks, create and implement necessary accommodations, and maintain compliance by expertly writing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Key Qualifications:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification (or eligibility) for the state. Previous experience supporting students in an elementary setting. Strong understanding of IEP development and legal compliance. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to modify instructional materials and adapt teaching styles as needed. Comfort in both resource and self-contained teaching environments.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide individualized and small group instruction to students with mild disabilities. Collaborate with general education teachers to facilitate inclusive practices and differentiated instruction. Design, implement, and regularly update IEPs to align with student needs and legal requirements. Maintain detailed student records and contribute to regular progress monitoring. Support the overall school community in fostering an environment of respect and success for all learners.
