Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a vital educational role supporting a young student with unique learning needs. As a special education professional specializing in cognitive impairment (CI), you'll work within a collaborative team at a dedicated center, providing meaningful support and shaping a positive learning environment. This contract position begins as soon as possible and continues through June 11, 2027, with consistent hours from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. each weekday.
Key Qualifications:
Valid CI (Cognitive Impairment) teaching certification required Experience or interest in working with students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) needs Demonstrated ability to implement behavior and mental health interventions Familiarity with full team approaches in educational settings Up-to-date background checks and certifications as required by state regulations
Primary Responsibilities:
Facilitate individualized instruction and behavioral supports for an 8- or 9-year-old student Collaborate closely with mental health professionals, therapists, and other team members to create a supportive, adaptable classroom environment Develop, monitor, and update IEP goals and strategies in partnership with families and the educational team Employ proactive strategies to manage challenging behaviors and optimize student participation Maintain thorough documentation and progress reports Attend team meetings and contribute to holistic discussions on student needs and progress
