Job Description
An exciting contract opportunity awaits for a dedicated Special Education Teacher specializing in early childhood. This position is based at Shettler Elementary and involves working within a supportive team environment focused on Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE). You will have your own classroom, three assistants, and direct access to an experienced ECSE colleague on-site. The role begins as part-time (up to 30 hours per week), with flexibility for additional hours or potentially transitioning to full-time as student enrollment increases throughout the year.
What You'll Bring:
Michigan Early Childhood Special Education endorsement preferred (other special education certifications will also be considered) Experience with early childhood and/or special education classrooms is highly valued Dedication to providing individualized instruction and fostering positive developmental outcomes Ability to collaborate with teaching assistants and other staff members Flexibility to adapt as classroom needs evolve over the school year
Responsibilities Include:
Designing and implementing engaging lesson plans tailored to young learners with diverse needs Managing a classroom of currently 6 students, with potential for growth as the school year progresses Overseeing three classroom assistants and ensuring effective collaboration Communicating regularly with families and related service providers Maintaining documentation, student records, and meeting compliance requirements Participating in school and ECSE team activities, including planning and professional development Enjoy a highly collaborative work culture, your own classroom space, and ongoing support from a veteran ECSE educator.
