Grade Responsibilities:
Provide specialized instruction and educational support to students in grades 9-12. Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs. Provide effective behavioral and classroom management support. Work with students who may have emotional, behavioral, developmental, or other specialized learning needs. Monitor student academic, behavioral, and social-emotional progress. Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, administrators, counselors, and related service providers. Maintain accurate student records and required special education documentation. Participate in IEP meetings, staff meetings, and other school-related activities. Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and educational needs. Promote a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications:
Valid Minnesota Special Education Teaching License in one or more of the following areas: EBD (Emotional or Behavioral Disorders), ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorders), ABS (Academic Behavioral Strategist). Experience working with at-risk students, preferably at the secondary level. Strong experience and skills in behavior support and management. Strong collaboration and communication skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary school team. Experience working with high school students is preferred. The district may be able to support an Out-of-Field Licensure Placement for qualified candidates who do not currently hold the exact required license.
