Adjunct Instructor - Special Education The University of Southern Mississippi is currently accepting applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor - Special Education. Position Details Location Hattiesburg 118 College Drive Hattiesburg, Mississippi, 39406-0001 United States Division College of Education and Human Sciences Position Type Faculty Employment Status Part Time Grant Funded No Pay Grade Generic Grade Posting Close Date Open Until Filled Special Instructions to Applicants Applications for Part-time Special Education (SPE) Adjunct Faculty will be accepted on an ongoing basis and will be reviewed as needed. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for visa sponsorship. The University will not sponsor applicants for work visas (e.g., H-1B). Job Summary Special Education Adjunct Faculty assist with the instructional delivery of courses taken by both program majors and non-majors. Special Education adjunct faculty teach up to 6 hours [2 - 3hour courses] per semester. Typical courses focus on Introduction to Disabilities and/or Special Education, Assessment, Intervention, classroom management, math. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Instruction in traditional and online formats. Assessment of student learning outcomes. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Performance of other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications A doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in Special Education is required for teaching graduate level courses. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate with all groups of individuals in a timely manner. Ability to work with a diverse team in diverse settings. Experience with online learning platforms. Experience setting clear performance expectations and provision of meaningful feedback. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated success in university teaching.
