Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity guiding students as a Special Education Teacher for the upcoming academic year, beginning September 1, 2026, and ending June 25, 2027. This role is based near Richfield Springs, NY, with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 3 PM, totaling approximately 34 hours a week. You'll deliver high-quality instruction in both resource and co-teaching settings, with an emphasis on English Language Arts for grades 7-12, primarily focusing on 7th and 9th-grade students.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide engaging instruction to small groups and in co-teaching environments, covering 6 periods per day. Manage a caseload of 15 students, with additional students in the resource room. Draft, implement, and update Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), coordinating with related services staff. Conduct and interpret evaluations and re-evaluations following current standards. Utilize ClearTrack for IEP management and progress monitoring; familiarity with Woodcock-Johnson assessments is highly valued. Ensure consistent communication with parents, other teachers, and administration regarding student progress and modifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Valid New York State Educator License with Special Education Endorsement. At least two years of recent teaching experience in a similar role. Proficiency with IEP development and compliance; understanding of ClearTrack and Woodcock-Johnson (Riverside Insights) tools is a plus. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
