Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract role supporting student success for the 2026-2027 academic year. This position involves providing specialized instruction in English Language Arts to grades 7-12, with a primary focus on 7th and 9th grades. You'll co-teach and manage resource periods, overseeing a caseload of 15 students, with additional students joining for resource room support. The school implements ClearTrack for IEP and progress monitoring, and utilizes Woodcock-Johnson assessments. Proficiency with these tools, or similar, will ensure a smooth transition into the role.
What We're Seeking:
Valid New York State Educator License with a Special Education Endorsement Ability to effectively write and implement IEPs, coordinate with related services, and ensure compliance At least two years of recent classroom experience is preferred Strong communication skills for collaboration with staff, students, and families Experience with ClearTrack and Woodcock-Johnson assessments, or comparable platforms, is highly desirable
Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver ELA instruction as both a co-teacher and resource specialist to students in grades 7-12 Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans in collaboration with related services Conduct and participate in student evaluations and re-evaluations Maintain documentation and track student progress using ClearTrack Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
